i spent the majority of today cleaning out my possessions. 6 banker’s boxes, 5 garbage bags, and 2 bags of clothing heading for goodwill, and my space is livable, and nicely minimalized.
it’s depressing exactly how much garbage this process created, but i console myself by remembering that it was always garbage… it was just garbage on a shelf, rather than in a dump.
this was the easy part, easier than i thought. the difficult part is limiting the accumulation of new crap. my addiction to magazines will make this difficult.
also, i have a floating shelf on my wall dedicated to holding my most commonly used shoes. for a functionality decision, i’m quite happy with the aesthetics.
